Campus Support for Terror: A
- Universities across the U.S. were the site of numerous antisemitic demonstrations after October 7, protesters called for “global Intifada” (violence against Jews) and clamored for Palestine “from the river to the sea” (the destruction of Jews in Israel). Over 1,200 people in Israel were raped, tortured, killed and taken hostage by Hamas terrorists – among them at least 40 Americans.
- Protests were also held at the University of Miami, but they tended to be more peaceful compared to other universities across the nation
- The University of Miami has proven to be a notable exception among college campuses with Jewish students feeling comfortable walking to class. UM’s leaders clearly condemned the terrorist attack and showed support for Israeli and Jewish students
- On October 2023, over 600 students, administrators, faculty and staff members, alumni, and community and religious leaders gathered at the University of Miami Center for Jewish Student Life in a show of support for Israel.
